Matthew T. Sweeney is Managing Partner and became CEO in 2026 of William Joseph Capital Management, Inc., a fee-only registered investment advisory firm headquartered in Connecticut.
Matthew began his career at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney as a Financial Advisor. In 2011, he joined Virtus Investment Partners as part of their wholesale distribution group, where he focused on working with financial advisors at investment banks throughout New York and Vermont.
In 2015, Matthew became a partner at William Joseph Capital Management, Inc. and currently leads the firm’s Investment Committee, having brought together a team of advisors focused on long-term financial planning and client-aligned processes.
Outside of the firm, Matthew has volunteered by serving on the boards of two private libraries in Farmington, Connecticut, as well as the Board of Trustees for a local historical nonprofit. He also serves on the RIA Advisory Board at AssetMark and the Advisory Board of Investopal, a financial technology and AI company.
Matthew resides in Southington, Connecticut with his wife Rachel of 23 years and their two daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys cheering on his daughters at ballet recitals and swim competitions, supporting his wife Rachel, an ICU head nurse, marathon runner, and HYROX athlete, and spending time fly fishing, riding Peloton, and cooking.
